  •   Choir Capital 1
Description: Capital of the first arc between the crossing and nave, towards the west, on the south side. Approx. 5m from ground. Lions are on the faces. Dates to late 11th century.
Reference: Marie-Thérèse Camus, in her study of twelfth-century Poitevin sculpture, specifies that at this time the Poitevin atelier particpated in constructions in the Limousin and the Auvergne, in which a bas-relief in the church at Menat is analogous to this sculpture. The epigraphy agrees with this and limits the date of the inscription to the end of the 11th century.
